Thursday’s Medina Hay Baler Parade alters route due to construction

Aug 12, 2023

MEDINA, Ohio -- The organizers of Thursday’s Hay Baler Parade are tweaking the route to circumvent road construction in the city.

The re-enactment of the 1954 Hay Baler parade, sponsored by the Medina County Antique Power Association and the Medina County Historical Society, is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (July 13).

Due to construction detours and to minimize traffic delays, the parade route is now slated to start at the Farmers Exchange (Farmers Table, Keller Meats) on South Court Street. The parade will proceed north up to the square, turn left on West Liberty Street (by Cool Beans) and proceed on West Liberty to State/Marks Road, then left onto Smith Road and on to the Medina County Fairgrounds.

To view the parade, it is best to locate a spot on Court Street or West Liberty Street. The parade will go on rain or shine.

Back in 1954, there was a huge parade through Medina honoring John Wanko’s record-setting sale of New Holland Hay Balers at the Farmers Exchange. Wanko asked farmers to drive their tractors to town that day and hitch up their new equipment.
