Fire at A & L Iron and Metal Friday morning

ESCANABA — At approximately 11:24 a.m. Friday, Escanaba Public Safety responded to A & L Iron and Metal, located at 2500 9th Avenue North, for a large fire.

An Escanaba Public Safety officer was on patrol and noticed thick, black smoke coming from the vicinity of A & L. The fire was coming from a large pile of scrap metal behind the business. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

No injuries were reported. Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by the Ford River Volunteer Fire Department and the Delta County Central Dispatch Center.
