Baler area reopened following landfill fire

CASPER, Wyo. — After a fire at the Station Road temporarily saw emergency personnel close roads to the facility, the baler area has been reopened.

The landfill is still closed as first responders remain on scene, working to fully contain the fire. Residents are asked to avoid the area if possible. In a Facebook post, the City of Casper announced that the landfill will remain closed for the rest of the day and city officials hope for the landfill to reopen on Tuesday.

Casper Fire-EMS could not be reached for further comment at time of publication.
